This class is for technicians with a basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle for AC. If you are looking to gain a basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle, we recommend taking our “Basic A/C Operation, Start Up & Servicing (1 Day Class),” “A/C Principles, Theories, Installation & Troubleshooting (10 Day Class),” or “Intro to Air Conditioning (4 Day Class).”

The Heat Pump Operation, Testing, and Troubleshooting class will help both installation and service technicians better understand the operation of heat pumps. Whether an installer isn’t sure what they should be seeing when starting up a heat pump, or a service guy feels there is room to improve when diagnosing heat pumps, this class has something to offer.

Heat Pump Operation, Testing, and Troubleshooting:

  • – Refrigeration cycle for heat pump, what changes from AC?
  • – Understanding difference in low voltage wiring from standard AC
  • – Checking charge in heat mode and understanding what effects readings
  • – Troubleshooting: what’s difference from a standard AC?
  • – Dual fuel wiring and optimization
