This training prepares propane employees who install residential and small commercial underground ASME tanks and piping to provide cathodic protection and control corrosion. At the conclusion of the class, students receive a certificate of completion. The topics covered are:

  • – Basics of corrosion
  • – The principles of cathodic protection
  • – The methods to achieve protection
  • – What galvanic protection is and how it works including anodes
  • – Pre-installation procedures including call before you dig national hotline (811)
  • – Installation procedures of anodes including electrical isolation
  • – Testing equipment and how to take tank-to-soil potential tests
  • – Troubleshooting and retrofitting existing cathodic protection systems
  • – NFPA 58 requirements for testing

Please note that this class will also include an off-site cathodic protection test for attendees to receive the required certificate of completion. We highly recommend students bring their own testing instruments. Cathodic protection training requires initial training as well as 3 year refresher training.
