As heating equipment becomes more efficient, venting becomes more critical. With older equipment, high stack temperatures helped overcome poor installations and marginal chimneys. The NORA Gold Venting Certification class is designed to ensure venting is done correctly and in accordance with NFPA – 211 & Pennsylvania’s IRCC – International Residential Construction Code. The program includes the requirements for proper venting, which involves combustion air, dilution air, and ventilation air. This course is designed for solving venting issues but is also included in NORA’s Gold Program.

NORA Gold Venting will cover:
- • Chimney venting, sizing, and lining
- • Blocked vent safety switches
- • Importance of proper draft
- • Use of draft regulators and inducers
- • Proper installations, maintenance, and service of Power Venting and Direct Vent systems
- • Venting for condensing appliances
Our Instructor:
Alan Mercurio, PPA’s Lead Technical Trainer, has over 30 years of industry experience in various roles including service technician, equipment sales, and service manager. Alan is an industry author, consultant, educator, and proctor. He holds certificates as a Master Technician in the State of Pennsylvania, Silver certificate from the PPA, is NORA Gold Certified, and is EPA Certified by the VGI Training center as a type I and type II Air Conditioning Technician. He is the past president and founder of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of OESP (Formerly NAOHSM), is on OESP’S Education committee, and is a liaison to NORA.
