Cost: Free to attend (companies will be asked to make a optional contribution to the Robert V. Boltz Scholarship Foundation)
Students will be installing each day one of the three major brands of oil burners on live fire boilers in the Thaddeus Stevens lab. Students can expect the following:
- Classroom instruction & hands-on training (working in teams of 2)
- Checking pump pressure and vacuum
- Primary control technology and operation
- Burner and control wiring
- Combustion Analysis
- Disassembling and assembling burners on the bench.
- Troubleshooting techniques
Students are required to:
- Bring their own hand tools
- Bring something to sit on if needed or a kneeling pad
- Bring combustion analyzer if they have one (some will be provided)
No cell phones will be in the building. Breaks will be provided to check messages and make calls.
