If you’re thinking about getting into the HVAC industry, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is where you get your training. You want a program that actually prepares you for the job — not just in theory, but in hands-on training and transferable skills. Hear from September 2024 graduate Mike Mooney on why the PPATEC HVAC & Energy Professional Program was the best fit for him. Mike has been working in the industry for over a year as an HVAC service technician at G.F. Bowman in Lebanon, PA.
After going through the 400-Hour HVAC & Energy Professional Program at PPATEC, there are three standout reasons Mike would recommend the program to anyone who wants to start (or accelerate) a career in HVAC:
1) The Quality of the Program
The first thing that jumps out to me is the quality.
I tell anyone and everyone who’s considering HVAC that PPATEC is the way to go — and it comes down to the instructors and the way the program is built. The training gave me the foundation and tools I needed to feel confident stepping into the field.
That confidence matters. When you show up to work as a new technician, you want to feel prepared — and PPATEC gave me that.
2) The Speed: An Accelerated Path Into the Industry
The second reason is the speed.
PPATEC is an accelerated program, and that made a huge difference for me. Without that structure, I wouldn’t have been able to get into a job so quickly — and get where I wanted to be as fast as possible.
If your goal is to build a real career without spending years in school, an accelerated program helps you move from training to employment in a much shorter timeframe.
3) The Employer Connections: Job Fair + Placement Support
The third reason — and honestly one of the biggest advantages — is how connected PPATEC is to employers.
They helped me find the job I’m currently working in now. I’m a service technician, and I met my employer through the job fair at PPATEC.
What stood out is how much effort the program puts into helping students connect with companies while they’re still in school — so you can graduate and jump right into the industry.
They really do emphasize getting you set up with an employer so you’re ready to start working the day you graduate.
Why PPATEC Was Worth It
At the end of the day, PPATEC didn’t just give me training — it gave me a clear path into the HVAC industry:
- Strong instruction and a high-quality curriculum
- Fast, accelerated program structure
- Real employer connections and career support
I’m genuinely grateful for the program and what it helped me achieve.
